It is the product of the polymerization of Vinyl Chloride. Many different types of PVC exist and are distinguishable by their molecular weight and their process of manufacture.
Every application requires employment of the proper type of PVC in order to obtain the necessary properties, essential to the final product. As with all thermoplastic products, it hardens in cold and softens in heat. For this reason, at low temperatures its mechanical resistance is augmented and resistance to impact is lowered, In a rigid state, it can be easily and strongly welded by the application of heat (welding arc, hot air current, high frequency heating).
